Italy: Workers seethe at government ‘Stability Law’ (VIDEO)

Thousands of workers vented on the streets of Milan Friday, expressing their disappointment at government spending cuts and a continued freeze on public sector wages. The action was called by the country’s three main trade unions, the CGIL, CISL and UIL.

The budget law, dubbed ‘Stability Law’ by the Italian media, calls for almost €12 billion ($16.15 billion) in spending cuts next year and €3.7 billion ($4.98 billion) in tax cuts for businesses. Italy’s main business lobby, Confindustria, has labeled the law as too timid to promote economic growth.
