You need a good education to be successful in anything you want to accomplish. In the case of Puerto Rico decolonization, we must undo the United States’ (US) indoctrination for the past 123 years to colonize our minds.
The Institute for Democratic Education in America (IDEA) has included Puerto Rico decolonization in its agenda. We can’t free our homeland, if our minds are not free first. Harriet Tubman said that she helped freed many enslaved people, but that she could have help free many more had they known that they were enslaved.
We need to decolonize our minds to create solidarity in order to create a better world. Only a decolonized mind is able to understand what Martin Luther King Jr. meant when he said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
A great idea is a terrible thing to waste.
